Wainfleet's first Beer Festival on October 9th 2004 in the Coronation
Hall was a great sucsess thanks to the tremendous support from locals
and visitors from all over the County. It was a really marvelous day for
all age groups, from the caretakers of the Coronation Hall's latest grandchild
to some very familiar veterens of the town.
Beer tasting was taken in moderation with only a committed few managing
to complete sampling the 19 cask ales on offer, not forgetting the wonderful
organic cider from Wells-next-sea across the Wash in Norfolk.
Local musicians the Dixie Duo kept the happy mood going until the Schuhplattler
dance group from Boston Grammar school swung into real beer festival tempo,
thigh slapping and wood chopping until we were all exhausted from laughing
and clapping.
The Tombola was busy all day with winner's walking away with arms full
of tankard's sweatshirt's and umberella's kindly donated by brewers and
breweries across the county.
When hunger set in there was a whole pig-roast slowley crisping up by
the fire doors at the back of the hall with delicious aroma's of apple
sauce and stuffing filling the air.
The evening was rounded off with a real rocky horror show fron the Cynical
Old Hippies who breathed life again into those wonderful Beatles and Stones
hits of the 60's.
There just has to be more events like this in town where so many locals
can get together and enjoy live music and a few yarns, come and help us
make next year an even better year for Wainfleet.
