Built in 1847 for Bethlem Hospital according
to the design of Sydney Smirke, their architect and named after their
benefactor. A number of similar terraces stood in Southwark near Bethlem
Hospital. (wording from the Wainfleet and District Heritage Society
plaque fixed to the wall of one of the houses in the street.)
